The songs and sounds on this album were recorded over a period of 22 months, before, during and after the production of Robby Massey & Derek Mungor's feature motion picture debut, Desolation Wilderness. Working with the co-directors over long-distance by way of e-mail, I recorded many of these pieces before ever seeing a frame of the film. We decided that much of the score would be handled piecemeal, allowing me to compose bits and pieces freely, while also permitting Robby & Derek to implement them to any specification within the film.
Storyline: "Noah and Russell are two art students caught in a generation that is far past the old world of white-collar life goals but currently in the throes of commercialized subcultures. With no room to grow on their own without a path already carved for them, they quit college, flee the city, and head to a cabin in the woods of northern Wisconsin to escape the paradigm and pursue a greater creative plane. While there, the wilderness begins to close in around them and the two begin to drift into a state of surrealism."
This particular release is an interpretation of the score as it appears in Desolation Wilderness. Some works sound exactly as they did in the film, while others have been extended/shortened/overlapped/etc.
Three Jason The Swamp tracks (Sun II, Mountains And Streams, Stars) which appear in the movie and on this album were originally released on 2009's As Is The Sun.
